I had the pleasure of testing the pattern for this summer cardigan and I could hardly wait for the pattern release so I could share it with you. I am always searching for beginner friendly patterns for my students so that once they master making those potholders, they can branch out and try something new without getting overwhelmed or frustrated. This pattern is absolutely perfect for a beginner.
This pattern is called the Elba Cardigan and it was designed by Crystal Marin at ChristaCo Design. I tested the pattern with yarn I had in my stash. I used Big Twist Soft yarn in the colorway Rose. This pattern is so easy to follow and works up pretty quickly. If you have mastered double crochet and are able to make squares, you can make the cardigan for sure. If you get stuck, you can always call on me to help get you on track!
I love this cardi so much that I have already started making another with a cotton blend yarn. I will post it when I am finished. If you would like to try this pattern, head on over to CristaCo Design. Here is the direct link to the pattern:
While you are there, check out Crystal’s other patterns. They are all well written and great for beginners. If you decide to make this cardi, please email me a picture. I would love to see your finished project!
